IOSH Rural Industries Group (RIG) o A diverse, dispersed Group [>1000 members mainly UK/Ireland + worldwide]: • RIG represented on HSE’s AIAC, HSA and HSENI • Actively supporting national Farm Safety Partnerships & IOSH international work. • Not just ‘farming’ though [cover~17 sectors, incl. aquaculture, equine, forestry + arboriculture, landscaping and grounds maintenance], so • Overlap with many other sectors, [eg utilities/transport networks, estates/public spaces, sports grounds, construction, local authorities - wherever trees & grass!]

  3. RIG Conferences/ Workshops IOSH collaborates with NFU, HSE, leading industry bodies & companies to set priorities for FSPs, identify & promote good practice eg Transport / Machinery / Cattle Handling / Communications Rail Crossings Water Safety ‘ Trees, Grass & Caterpillars’

  7. Objectives and scope Unique event, relevant to a wide range of industries: • Reported cases of HAVs increasing. (Many accept part of job?) • Significant prosecutions (incl. several local authorities). • HSE, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers and other industry specialists will give their perspective and share good practice. • Hear about Standards, and HSE’s Buy Quiet and LowVib initiaives. • Practical demos of monitoring & measurement + new methods of training. • Using a range of typical grounds maintenance and construction work equipment. • Help you understand and apply the legal requirements to reduceand manage exposure to Noise, HAV and WBV. • Opportunity to work with HSE to gather and share quality data to avoid individual employers measuring themselves.
