Originally based on:
- 1.46 kgs/property/per week = (5,000 tonnes pa)
- 1.46 kgs challenged – Inclusion of cooking oil – blue
bags
- Disposal saving of approx. £100 per tonne
- Giving a saving of approx. £500k per annum
- Cost of delivering new service approx. £500k pa (break
even)
- Delivery to Smallmead (last tip of the day)

Why should the Council do anything?
- Public pressure to increase recycling
- Recycle valuable resources and reclaim energy
- National recycling target
– 50% recycling by 2020
- National Waste & Resources Strategy
– Separate collection of bio-waste by 2023
- EU Circular Economy Package
– 55% recycling by 2025, 60% by 2030 and 65% 2035

the system is designed to minimise smells
– The caddy will be collected weekly – The food waste inside will be in tied up liners – All reduce the build up

and keep them to a minimum
– The food waste is contained
- It’s in tied up liners in the outdoor caddy
– Always keep the lid of the outdoor caddy down and locked

- If people use up their initial supply of
liners, they will be able to get more from:
– Council offices and public libraries – Other locations to be confirmed
So in Summary
- The new service and the Contract extension starts in
April 2019
- The Communications programme has started and will
ramp up in January & February
- Containers (23litre container, 5 litre kitchen caddie & a
roll of 100 caddie liners + leaflet will be delivered in February / March
- The new vehicles will be delivered in late March 2019
