  4. STUDENTS WILL CHOOSE 1. One English Subject • English • English as an Additional Language • Essential English • Pre-International Baccalaureate English

  5. STUDENTS WILL CHOOSE 2. One Mathematics Subject • General Mathematics • Mathematical Methods • Essential Mathematics • Mathematics & Engineering Extension

  6. STUDENTS WILL CHOOSE 3. Four other subjects, but: Pre-IB students must choose • Physics OR Biology; • Chemistry OR Visual Art OR Music; • Business, Economics, History or Psychology; • Spanish OR Chinese OR School of Distance Education Language)

  7. STUDENTS WILL CHOOSE Spanish Immersion students: Choose Spanish Acceleration Chinese Acceleration Students: Choose Chinese Acceleration Maths & Engineering Students: Choose Mathematical Methods Acceleration

  8. STUDENTS WILL STUDY Six subjects, three times a week + Year 10 Connect program Many students will be able to access Home Study on Wednesday Period Four. Some students will choose: • Cisco Networking • Cert III in Aviation • Cert II in Hospitality as Wednesday afternoon subjects Some students will require: • Additional assistance with their studies • Students who study EAL will attend tutorials

  9. YEAR 10 2021 • First year of Senior Secondary • Subjects determine pathways, Year 10 and Year 11 subjects have required and advised results. • Students able to make subject changes prior to two-year courses in Years 11 and 12.

  11. ATAR - ASSIGNING A TERTIARY ENTRANCE RANK An ATAR will be calculated from  5 General subjects OR  4 General subjects & a VET Cert III & above subject OR  4 General subjects & an Applied subject. ATAR assignment requires successful completion of an English subject

  12. ATAR - ASSESSMENT IN YEAR 12 Subject results in General subjects (academic) will be based on student achievement in four summative assessments — three internal assessments and one external assessment that QCAA sets and marks. Subject results in Applied (practical) subjects will be based on student achievement in four internal assessments.

  13. ATAR For most General subjects, the internal assessment will contribute 75% to the final subject result, except in mathematics and science subjects, where it will contribute 50%. External assessment will be in all General subjects, but it will not be used to scale a student’s internal assessment result. Instead, the external assessment result will be added to the internal assessment result to arrive at a final subject result.

Subject Selection (smorgasbord) THURSDAY opens via OneSchool 30 JULY Subject Selection (smorgasbord) closes 9.00am MONDAY All students must select the subjects that they intend 3 AUGUST to study in 2021. Subject Selection (Final) opens via OneSchool MONDAY 10 AUGUST Subject Selection (Final) closes 9.00am MONDAY All students must select and confirm six subjects available 17 AUGUST within the approved line structure to confirm subjects for Year 10 in 2021.

  20. Click here to commence your Smorgasbord Subject Selection

  21. 2021 smorgasbord Choose the correct Model, 2021 Smorgasbord. Click SAVE

  22. 2021 smorgasbord Click on Edit Box Access the 2021 Senior Course Guide and IB Handbook, also available via indoorooshs.eq.edu.au

  23. Choose an English subject and select a Mathematics subject. Then choose four other subjects from any Learning Area that you enjoy and are able to achieve success

  24. Ensure that when you press save that this notification appears. Without this, your Subject Selection is incomplete

Subject Selection (smorgasbord) THURSDAY opens via OneSchool 30 JULY Subject Selection (smorgasbord) closes 9.00am MONDAY All students must select the subjects that they intend 3 AUGUST to study in 2021.
