  33. Application Information Be accurate. Be complete. Write down your passwords. Keep a hard copy.

  34. Application Fee Pay by check, debit card or credit card. If you have free or reduced lunch, see your counselor for a fee waiver.

  35. Transcripts All are sent electronically through Parchment. Transcripts requested electronically anywhere are now free. Once you graduate, there will be a fee. $1.oo for each paper transcript Your Parchment registration code was sent to your portageps.org email back in the spring. Please see the Parchment handout for simple instructions. If you have any questions, see Mrs. King in the Counseling Office.

  36. Be sure to use your registration code. Use the registration code link from your Portage email account.

  37. Helpful Parchment Hints……  The first step in Parchment is to view official transcript from PCHS. You should verify that everything is correct. If you have concerns regarding your transcript, contact your high school counselor.  Using your registration code will confirm the information for you, since we are using your Skyward information for Parchment.  If you do not use your registration code, be sure to put in matching data for Parchment. For example, if you birth date does not match what you have in Skyward, applications will get delayed.

  38. Helpful Parchment Hints Continued..  Use appropriate personal emails for colleges, FAFSA and Parchment transcript information. Remember that the high school email address will disappear after you graduate.  You may not want hotstuff@yahoo.com for example.

  39. On the Parchment website, type in the search box "Common App" and it will come up on a list, hit select, then enter your Common App ID number, and follow the prompts. With the Common Application, DO NOT request your transcript to the college directly , as that is not correct, and these requests will be deleted. Request your transcript to be sent to Common Send your transcript to the Application. Common Application, if you are using the Common Application.

  41. A Brief Word about Essays  Make an impression and answer the question.  Follow directions.  Proofread. Proofread. Proofread.  Read your essay aloud.  Be creative and show your personality.  Ask for feedback.

  42. Letters of Recommendation? ● Only submit required letters. ● Sent directly from PCHS. ● Ask permission. ● Time. (We need at least seven school days.) ● “Senior Information Sheet” handout in the Counseling Office. ● Be sure to say thank you. 

Sample Counselor Questions  Has the applicant ever  To your knowledge, has the applicant ever been been found responsible convicted of a for a disciplinary misdemeanor, felony, or violation at your school, other crime? whether related to  Is this student a first academic misconduct or generation college behavioral misconduct, student? that resulted in the applicant's probation,  Are there any extenuating suspension, removal, circumstances that have affected school dismissal, or expulsion performance? from your institution?

  44. The Complete College Application  Application fully submitted.  Fee paid, unless you have free/reduced lunch. See your counselor if you have free/reduced lunch.  Transcript sent through Parchment.  Test Scores sent via College Board or ACT.  Letter of Recommendation, only if required.

  45. College Decisions now until May  After you apply, you will get a letter that tells you one of these things:  Admit: You are accepted to college.  Defer: You are basically asked to submit your second semester grades.  Deny: You should apply to another college and look at options to transfer.  Your Senior Grades count!  Your behavior senior year counts too!
