Background on Update

○ 2015 brought a revision and alignment of Academic and Financial Aid SAP into one policy ○ Implementation included an integrated appeal process for students and feedback from advisors ○ 2017 Review of aligned policy identified areas that the SAP policy did not comply with Federal Financial Aid requirements and an Update was required

  • Update

○ Creation of two policies

■ REG 02.05.03 - Progress Toward Undergraduate Degree ■ REG 02.70.02 – Financial Aid – Eligibility for Continued Receipt of Financial Aid ■ All students measured in May ■ Students on Probation measured after each term

○ Pace of Completion: complete at least 2/3 of all hours attempted each year (summer term – spring term) ○ Maximum Timeframe: Graduate before attempting more than 150%

Satisfactory Academic Progress - Undergraduate

  • 2018 Revisions

○ Pace of completion: ⅔ completion moves from an

annual measure to a measure of ⅔ completion over a student’s career

○ Academic Standing: no change, students must have

an academic standing that allows for continued enrollment

○ Maximum time frame measure removed - exists only

for financial aid

Eligibility for Continued Receipt of Financial Aid

  • 2018 Revisions

○ Pace of completion: ⅔ completion moves from an annual measure to a measure of ⅔ completion over a student’s career ○ Maximum time frame: no change, students must graduate before attempting more than 150% of hours required for degree ○ Academic Standing: no change, students must have an academic standing that allows for continued enrollment ○ Financial Aid (FA) GPA: added measure, students must maintain a FA GPA of equal to or greater than 2.0 (grade exclusions are removed from the FA GPA calculation)
