Rising Sophomores - students in their final year at the community college for 2007-08 (max award $12,500 over 4-yrs) 2. Transfer-Ready - students that are due to transfer Fall 2007 or Spring 2008 (max award of $10,500 over 3-yrs) MCCP Directors may nominate students from their programs who meet above the criteria and: • have a complete Ed -Plan (Rising Sophomores only) • major in Computer Science, Math, and Engineering • possess a minimum grade point average of 2.5 • have proof of financial need (no SAR’s please, only financial aid award letters from the campus) • plan to attend a CSU, UC or Private California University that hosts an MEP upon transfer • are currently enrolled with an average of 12 units or full -time equivalent per semester/quarter • can demonstrate proof of permanent residency - students that are in the process of filing for permanent residency or are awaiting confirmation of their status should not apply until permanent residency has been granted.

  23. Joint MESA Alliance Events UPDATES

  24. MESA Olympics • Six teams competed at three levels in the Calculator Olympics. • First place in Level One went to the Imperial Valley High School MSP. Each member won SONY MP3 players. • First place in Level Two went to a team from Southwestern College. Each member won a SONY Boom Box. • First Place in Level Three went to San Diego State University. Each member won a SONY DVD Player. • Four teams (one each from SDSU, SDCC, SWC, and the Imperial Valley high school program) competed in the Robotics Challenge. • Robotics victory went to the team from SD City College. Each team member won a SONY digital camera.

Training Academy • The Spring Training Academy was hosted by SPAWAR on 4/20/07. • Approximately 20 students from SDSU, SDCC, and SWC attended • Students found the event to be a valuable part of their training in engineering, and were especially pleased with the afternoon speakers. Recruiting for a Fall 2007 Training Academy begins now!
