UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS Faculty of Arts, Celtic Studies & Philosophy

 Ancient Classics has been taught in Maynooth since the first foundation of a

college in the town in 1795. Over 200 years later, the subject remains central to the study of Arts and Humanities.

 English has a history that dates back to the 19th century, the Department is a

supportive and dynamic learning environment and a center of cutting-edge research in English, Irish, and global literatures.

 History is among Ireland’s leading centers for the teaching and research of

history.

 Media Studies students gain experience in critical analysis and media

production, with the tools to engage in media research and production across the public sector and private industry.

Biology The research activities of the department have increased significantly in scope and the department has established international reputations in areas of Biological Control, Bioinformatics, Immunology, Medical Mycology, Molecular Genetics and Plant Biotechnology.

Chemistry is a research-led and student focused department, with research and teaching expertise in Organic, Inorganic, Physical, Analytical and Computational Chemistry.

Computer Science provides a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Multimedia and Mobile Systems.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS School of Modern Languages

 Chinese Studies program offers one of only two BA programmes in Chinese

Studies available in Ireland.

 French Studies has been taught at Maynooth since the establishment of the

university in 1795. Lecturers are all research active and the research has a direct impact on teaching.

 German Studies aims to introduce students to German, Swiss and Austrian

language, history and culture in a comprehensive way.

 Spanish and Latin American Studies was established in 1999. We offer

teaching by experts in the study of languages, literatures, cultures and linguistics, both at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Admission Requirements

GPA plus SAT or ACT

Minimum High School GPA 3.0/4.0 (3.5/4.0 for certain degrees)

Minimum SAT Composite 1000/1600: reading, writing and math (1200/1600 for a small number of degrees)

Minimum ACT Composite: 22 out of 36 (26 out of 36 for some degrees) (writing section not required)

Super scoring applies if tests are taken within two years
