A few districts in Texas are considering an intersessional school calendar that begins in early August, ends in late June, and contains much longer holiday breaks (such as two weeks at Thanksgiving, four weeks at Christmas and two weeks for Spring Break), thereby reserving such days as instructional make-up days if the pandemic requires school closures. Essentially, such a plan provides a much shorter summer break and longer holiday breaks, with provisions that such breaks could be re-converted into days, if necessary.
