The Cape Town Big 6

The Cape Town Big 6 is a marketing initiative between:

  • Cape Point
  • Groot Constantia
  • Kirstenbosch
  • Robben Island
  • Table Mountain Cableway
  • V&A Waterfront

Our message is that a visit to Cape Town would be incomplete if you haven’t seen these six attractions. Community and economic development, social responsibility and the impact tourism has on the environment are areas in which the Big 6 invest heavily.

Groot Constantia Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP) projects

Through Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP) projects Groot Contantia are very aware of consumption of resources on the estate. The first RECP project in 2011–2012 focused on reduction of energy and the second in 2013 on water efficiency. Erosion control is a constant focus, and the farm already boasts floodwater control systems that are way above standard. They are in the process

  • f extending their baboon fence to control

baboons in an environmentally friendly way. Groot Constantia is a Biodiversity and Wine Initiative member and part of the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) programme, being audited by both annually.

Employs unskilled labour from local communities and trains them in environmental conservation, encourages small businesses to supply and tender for services at RIM and allows SMME photographers to take pictures of tourists in their

  • wn capacity so that they

can generate income.

Cape Point

Cape Point is uplifting their local community by creating job opportunities in a fairly remote area by employing staff from the surrounding areas, many of which are seen as disadvantaged communities.
