Stems from National Critical Care & Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC)

  • 2004: NCCTRC established at Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) for

rapid medical response to incidents of national significance

  • 2010: QH (via PAH) entered partnership with NCCTRC
  • 2014: TRauma And DIsaster Management (TRADIM) Research

Grant Scheme established (first grants funded in 2015) – Administered through CHR – Funded by NCCTRC Trust Fund AIMS

  • 1. To increase the evidence base of trauma clinical practice
  • 2. To develop research collaborations between MSH & RDH/NCCTRC
  • 3. To improve trauma patient outcomes through research

PA RSS 2016 Funding Round – What’s New?

  • SERTA (MSH wide) has replaced the PAH PPTF (PAH only)

– PA RSS open to all MSH researchers (all MSH research sites)

  • Eligibility (applicant or co-investigator) is restricted to researchers from:

– MSH – PAH-based academic partner university school or institute (UQ SOM, UQDI, QUT IHBI) – Griffith University who are based at a MSH site

  • Associate Investigators may be named (no restrictions apply)
  • Funded clinical studies must have site specific approval (SSA);

evidence of this must be forwarded to the CHR by late 2016

  • Mandatory questions have been added to application forms
  • Most award types are funded by only one funding body – only those

who are able to receive funding body grant payments will be eligible for these awards

  • Project Grants – stand-alone support for defined projects with

potential to result in future national or international grants – $50k for 1 year – 1 available
