Curriculum Updates • Trauma Informed Care Director Endorsement Course (TIC) • Goal: Help childcare programs to implement trauma informed care strategies, provide safe, predictable, and supportive settings for all children • Projected release: Fall 2019 • Target Audience: Facility Directors and Family Child Care Home Operators • Length: 40-hr program. 15-hr in class, 25-hr for reading, homework, and observation • Individuals are expected to have completed the Department’s 5-hour online “Trauma Informed Care for Child Care Professionals ” • Can be used for Director Credential Renewal or Staff Credential Renewal • Professional contribution • After completion, participants will get an endorsement for TIC • T.E.A.C.H. Scholarships available • Implementing the Florida Standards in the Infant and Toddler Classrooms: Birth through 2 Years Old (SRBT) 5-hr course • Released: November 2018 • In-service course online • Due to the revision of Standards by the Office of Early Learning, minor updates to the participant’s guides have been made for the CGDR, UDAP, ITPR, PSPR, and SAPR modules

  22. Competency Exams Policies • How to schedule an appointment: • Online: This option is only available if the individual has previously paid the online or instructor-led course fees. • Over the Phone to the CCTIC 1-888-352-2842: When scheduling exemption exams.

  23. Competency Exams Policies • Individuals who do not pass the exemption exam, will have to complete the course before they can retake the exam (online or instructor-led). There is no limit to the number of times someone can take the exam. • Exams must be scheduled at least seven (7) days prior to the date an individual plans to take the exam. Once an exam site is full, no additional registrations will be allowed. • Students whose primary language is neither English nor Spanish may use a pocketsize paperback foreign language translation dictionary during the exam. • Last name change.

Competency Exams Policies • Selecting the language: English or Spanish. • To change the language after scheduling an appointment individuals must call the TCA before the day of the exam. • Individuals can only unenroll through the website if they have not paid for the exam yet or before the 7 day period. Otherwise, they must call the TCA to cancel.

Competency Exams Policies • Confirmation letters are now available in Spanish. • Confirmation letters only available in the DCF website. • Payment receipt does not contain details about the appointment. • Participants are encouraged to read and bring their confirmation letter to the exam session, with the attestation form signed. A copy will be provided to sign at the exam session during check-in. • Competency Exam Attestation Statement available in English and Spanish. • Exam policies are strictly enforced during the exam session. • No late arrivals.

  26. Competency Locations • No exam sessions will be offered in Cape Coral after June 30, 2019. • Exam sessions will be offered every Saturday in Fort Myers.

  28. Special Accommodations Americans with Disabilities Act Accommodation Request 1. Provide CCSWFL Special Accommodations Request Form 2. Provide documentation regarding the disability. It Could be: • IEP (Individual Education Plan), • Diagnosis confirming the disability, • Report from a specialist that evaluated the individual as well as the recommendations regarding exams. The report must explain the findings in the evaluation and the type of disability as well as the proper accommodations requested. 3. Documentation must be provided at least two weeks before the exam date to the TCA by fax, email, or mail. 4. TCA will coordinate exam site and date after approval of the written request.
