 Sick neonates are one of the most heavily

transfused groups of patients in modern medicine.

 Apart from whole blood, blood components

like packed red blood cell (PRBC), platelet or fresh frozen plasma are used.

 The study was carried out at the neonatal

intensive care Unit (NICU) at Ad- Women’s Medical college Hospital.

 Total 743 neonates

were admitted during the study period, 86 neonates (10.9%)

 Inborn 65(75.58%)  out born

21(24.41%).

 NVD 39 (44.44%)  LUCS 47( 55.55%)

 Their age of admission were from 0 days to

28 days

 Their weight ranged between 0.864kg to

3.83 kg with a mean weight of 1.64 kg.

 Gestational age of the neonates ranged from

26 weeks to 41 weeks .Mean GA 35+4weeks.
