Basic Troubleshooting

Requirements:

  • CardExchange Visitor is a Windows Presentation Foundation application written in VisualBasic.net
  • It requires the Microsoft .net framework 4.7 to be installed on the PC (.net 4.6 is not supported for Windows XP)

Settings:

  • All the templates & settings are by default stored in the Data folder, this is automatically backed up during an update but should be regularly backed up by the user or

placed on a network share where it is automatically backed up

  • User settings such as the selected printer, selected camera & window state are stored in the users App Data folder, these config files can be deleted if they become

corrupted and they will be recreated at startup

  • If the metadata.cdd file becomes corrupted, the main window may load with no templates displayed. We do create an automatic backup of this in the Data folder called

metadata.cdd.bck that can be restored if needed Licensing:

  • Licenses are locked to a MachineID of the PC based around the MAC address, if the license needs to be moved to a new PC then they will have to reactivate it to the

new PC which will blacklist the old license automatically

  • Customers get 4 automatic relicenses, after that they will need to contact yourselves for a replacement license
  • Network licenses require the environment variable on the server to contain the path name as well as the desired license file name and file extension
  • When using Network licenses, the clients need to be able to communicate with the license server over UDP port 5093
  • On license servers with multiple network controllers, it may be necessary to activate the license to a MachineID based on the HDD ID as the MAC address may change

Printing:

  • All printer settings are loaded from the Windows driver, page settings such as rotation can be set under page setup in the designer

Display:

  • The display panes in the main window can be moved and resized, you can also restore the default view under the view tab
