Iraq awarded an $843 million contract to Weatherford International Ltd. (WFT) to install six power generation plants at the Zubair oil field in the south of the country. The plants will take 18 months to install. Zubair produces about 200,000 barrels a day, the group led by Eni SpA (ENI) won a contract in 2010 to boost output at Zubair to 1.2 million barrels a day within six years and maintain that level for an additional seven years.

The 54 Billion Gorgon Project is developing the Gorgon and Jansz-Io gas fields, located within the Greater Gorgon area, between 130 and 220 kilometres off the northwest coast of Western Australia. It includes the construction of a 15.6 million tonne per annum (MTPA) liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant on Barrow Island and a domestic gas plant with the capacity to supply 300 terajoules of gas per day to Western Australia. The Gorgon Project is operated by Chevron. It is a joint venture of the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (approximately 47.3 percent), ExxonMobil (25 percent), Shell (25 percent), Osaka Gas (1.25 percent), Tokyo Gas (1 percent) and Chubu Electric Power (0.417 percent).

Valero acquired Pembroke refinery in South West Wales in 2011, marking Valero’s entry into the European refining market. Opened in 1964, the refinery is one of the largest, most complex refineries in Western Europe. It makes products including gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and petrochemical feedstocks. About 44 percent of Pembroke’s products are gasolines, including ultra-low sulphur gasoline, and about 40 percent of products are distillates. Upgrades and installation of special equipment over the years have boosted the plant’s complexity and ability to process difficult crudes, such as acidic, heavy crude.

Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli (ACG) field located about 100km east of Baku is the largest oilfield in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian basin ACG is a complex of six production platforms: Chirag 1, Central Azeri, West Azeri, East Azeri, Deepwater Gunashli, West Chirag; and two process, gas compression, water injection and utilities (PCWU) and COP platforms. Sangachal is one of the biggest and most efficient terminals in the world, which can receive and process up to 1.2 million barrels of oil per day. ACG has achieved more than 3 Million barrels of oil production since first oil. ACG is operated by BP under a PSA agreement signed in 1994.
