There are three Committees which you can choose to work within:

1. OUTREACH

• Visiting local Care

Homes and Schools. Build a link with the local community

• Christmas Hamper

Challenge Supporting people in the local community

Design the end of year leaver’s Yearbook and hoodies.

Expectations

Prefects will play a vital role in the running of Longsands Academy; assisting and supporting both staff and students. They will act as ambassadors to the school therefore must uphold the highest standards at all times, including uniform, adherence to school rules, effort, attendance and attitude. Prefects will be committed to understanding the importance of this leadership role within the school and will carry out their duties and responsibilities with due diligence at all times. Being a Prefect requires innovative ideas, use of initiative and ability to work together as a team.

Criteria

There will be a team of Prefects. Two of the these prefects will be elected to the post of Head Boy and Head Girl. We would welcome applications from students who believe they have the following qualities:

• Confident in public speaking
• Impeccable uniform
• Good role models
• Good at time management and multi-tasking
• Happy to represent the school at formal functions (consider how many other

activities you have and whether the work load would be manageable)

• Happy to dedicate time during form and lunches as required

Key Dates and what to include in the application letter.

A letter of application, font size 12, on one side of A4, addressed to Mrs Hills and emailed to Mrs Jordan by 3.10pm on Friday 22nd May The application letter should clearly state why you wish to be considered for the Senior Team and what qualities you have that make you a suitable candidate. In addition, it should include what you can bring to the team. At the bottom of the letter, under your name, state whether you wish to be considered for Head-boy/girl or only the Senior Team. Please also state which committee you are interested in. Students will then be shortlisted and invited to interview
