This INFORMATION PROJECT aims at improved activities in DAIRY FARMS

The project, which is based on surveys and interviews, focuses on new information: v milk quality management, v animal disease management, v animal welfare and v cost-effective working methods.

The seminars, demo-days, videos and training material is aimed for: v the farmers themselves, v own work forces as well as v domestic and foreign employees including relief workers We are developing tools to enable and support self-studies among the farmers and farm employees. Information is provided in various formats to reach different types of learners.

THE PROJECT ACTIONS :

The tailored seminars and demo-days topics:

• Healthy hooves and udders
• Hoof care in practice
• Care of newborn calves
• Feed quality
• Observation of oestrus
• Welfare quality (in November 2018)

The seminars and demo-days are arranged in:

• Southern Ostrobothnia,
• Ostrobothnia,
• Central Ostrobothnia,
• Northern Ostrobothnia and
• Pohjois-Savo.

Events have also been arranged in Swedish.

• milking and laundering udder cloths,
• care of newborn calves,
• how to work in the cowsted,
• prevention of animal diseases,
• transportation of animal etc.

These videos in Finnish have been translated to Swedish and English and further to Estonian and Russian languages. The videos in Finnish, Swedish, English & Estonian are available and Russian will be published in September.

Useful links to training material will also be published. The compiled material will be freely available also after that the project fora are completed. The online training tools for dairy farm employees: v training material based on the seminars and demo-days, v educational videos v links to useful material e.g. thesis and presentations and v questionnaires for level testing of skills. The web-based videos and compiled training material will enable employees to carry out self-studies in relevant topics. The dairy farmers can check the understanding of obtained information through the questionnaires.
