2003 blackout

 On Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, a massive

power outage began on the New York state power grid shortly after 4 p.m. It would cascade to become the most widespread blackout in North American

  • history. At its peak, it affected 50 million

people across much of the northeastern United States and most of southern Ontario.

Vendor Caused Interruption

 If you or your crew causes an interruption:

 Move quickly away from the accident scene  Do not re-enter the accident scene until ECC

has been notified

 ECC will try to re-energize the line

 Leave all vehicles, tools and personal items in the

accident scene

 Do not attempt to extinguish fires  Do secure the area to prevent the public from

entering the accident scene, but always stay a safe distance from the downed power line.
