  • Youth dependency ratio higher, elderly dependency higher (aging

population)

  • Unbalanced population structure
  • Low level of foreign nationals; 3.15% compared to national 11.6%
  • Significant number of males in agriculture and forestry
  • Significant number of females in professional services
  • A higher level of early school-leaving (historic) and corresponding lower

number in third level

Vision: The vision for Liscarroll over the lifetime of the Plan is to encourage small scale residential development and regeneration, sympathetic to the history, character and setting of the village, in tandem with provision of employ ment and services. To promote and expand on the already established tourist functions of the village and further enhance its role within the north cork area.

O - 01 Open space & Agriculture This prominent site makes a significant contribution to the rural character of the town and the setting of Liscarroll Castle in particular. O - 02 Open space within existing playing fields and scope for the provision of additional facilities. O - 03 Lands to remain predominantly open in character. Any development on these lands should not interfere with the landscape setting of the town. C - 01 Community & Utilities Existing Playground

recent LAP, Councillors also contacted re various issues

  • Flood/ Storm Water Drainage; Still an issue when gullies are not
  • maintained. Requires ongoing consultation with CCC
  • One-Way Traffic; working with the school to get Canty's Corner to the Old

Walls Cross changed to one way. Proposal to be made to CCC shortly.

  • Upgrade Public Lighting; The Old Walls Cross was upgraded. Some works

done to Creche, Sallypark area is still a blackspot.
