  9. 4 ACTIONS Lockout Lockdown Evacuate Shelter

  10. EVERY ACTION Has specific instructions

  11. EACH ACTION Is Followed by a Directive

  12. LOCKOUT! Secure the Perimeter

  13. WHY LOCKOUT? Something dangerous near the school

  14. CRIMINAL Activity in the area

  15. DANGEROUS Animal on the playground

  16. PUBLIC ADDRESS Action and Directive is Repeated

  17. STUDENTS Get in the building

  18. STUDENTS No one in or out

  19. TEACHERS Increase situational awareness

  20. STUDENTS Business as usual

  21. LOCKDOWN! Locks, Lights, Out of Sight.

  22. WHY LOCKDOWN? Something dangerous inside the building

  23. CRAZY Person

  24. SOMETHING Worse

  25. TEACHERS Lock and close the classroom door

  26. STUDENTS Stay out of sight of the corridor window

  27. TEACHERS Turn out the lights

  28. TEACHERS Take attendance and note the time

  29. STUDENTS Do not open the door for anyone

  30. STUDENTS Be silent

  31. TEACHERS Maintain silence

  32. DISCUSSION: Difference between lockout & lockdown?

  33. DISCUSSION: What if you’re outside?

  34. DISCUSSION: What if you’re in the hallway?

  44. POLICE Evacuation is a little different
