PHOSPHOGYPSUM

  • Main component: calcium sulfate dihydrate - formed in the reaction
  • f ground rock phosphate and sulfuric acid:

Ca5(PO4)3F + 5 H2SO4 + 10 H2O → 3 H3PO4 + HF + 5 [CaSO4 · 2 H2O]

  • Classification:
  • not cancirogenic or mutagenic substance

according to classification in Polish Minister of Health ordinance of 24 July 2012

  • non-hazardous waste

according to Polish Minister of Environment ordinance of 27 September 2001

  • World phosphogypsum production c.a.16 million tonnes per month

PHOSPHOGYPSUM DEPOSITION

  • Phosphogypsum have been deposited in

Wiślinka dump since 1969

  • It was delivered to the site by barges in the

quantity of c.a. 2500 tpd

  • 300 meters wide buffer zone surrounding

the dumpsite have been established.

STORAGE YARD MONITORING

  • Monitoring of the quality of surface waters

surrounding the dump

  • Analyses of level and chemistry of

groundwater

  • Analyses of volume and composition of

leachate in the storage reservoir

  • Analyses of stability and settlement level of

the dump
