Research shows: • Children under the age of 2 years are 75% less likely to die or sustain serious injury when they are in a rear ‐ facing seat (Pediatrics, 2008) • 2 year olds were five times safer riding rear ‐ facing than 2 year olds riding forward ‐ facing (Injury Prevention, 2007) So, why now? • In 2011, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended that children ride rear ‐ facing until age 2 • States started to make a change: • California, 2015 • New Jersey, 2015 • Oklahoma, 2015 • Pennsylvania, 2016 5
