Mission The aim of the physical education (PE) programme is to develop :  the physical,  intellectual,  social and emotional skills  21 st century competencies,  Core values through physical activities and enriched programmes By building foundation for the development of broad-based physical competencies and opportunities for recreational participation.

  3. Guiding Philosophy of PE Dept  To inculcate love for Sports at a young age and instill sense of responsibility to look after self (healthy lifestyle)  To improve the fitness level of the pupils.

  4. Movement Concept Approach  lower primary level (foundation)  focuses on mastery of fundamental motor skills such as locomotor, non-locomotor and manipulative skills with application of movement concepts to develop efficiency, effectiveness and versatility in students’ performance.  upper primary level extends on the mastery of discrete skills  to focus on more complex combinations and sequences of movements , and skills application in activity and games

  5. Examples of Movement Concept  Locomotive Movts : Running, Jumping, Sliding, Galloping, Walking, Leaping  Non-Locomotive Movts: Bending, Twisting, Balancing  Manipulative Movts: Throwing, Catching, Bouncing, Rolling Kicking

Modes of Assessment  PE Programmes Competency / Skills Assessment (through PE syllabus & programmes) - to assess pupils on skills and games concepts taught in the PE SOW eg :manipulative movements such as catching, throwing, shooting, dribbling, creating space etc  Physical Health Fitness  PE Grading Rubrics (Values and observational traits)

  11. New NAPFA (2014 onwards)  Pupils sit for NAPFA test at P4 and P6 only.  Test items remain the same (5 static items and 1.6km run/walk)  Testing period is from April to Aug  In RGPS: Preparation period starts in Term 1 Test conducted in May, re-test in July- Aug

  12. P5 SPECIAL PROGRAMME P5 Adventure Camp  11-14 Aug (Term 3)  2 days, 1 night stay in camp  Confidence ropes course  Teambuilding  Camp crafts  More details will be given at a later date  Parents’ briefing

  13. School Events  Water Sports (Feb) all P4 pupils to attend, Competitive Events (P2-P6), Mass Games (non-competitive/ non-swimmer P4 pupils)  Games Carnival (April)  ACES Day (Oct)
