  7. + The audition process:  Exceptions:  Guitar and piano have “self-selection” choices for literature.  Voice – pitch matching.  Percussion – rudiments.

  9. + Preparing for an audition:  Consistent practice and preparation over time – you can’t cram!  Understand the process…know the “rules” of what is expected.  Ask for help – your school music teacher, attend the next audition workshop.  Practice doing the audition – play for your family, your friends, your music class.  Record yourself.

  10. + Preparing for an audition:  Get a good night’s sleep ahead of time.  Eat breakfast.  Arrive early so that you aren’t stressed.  Warm up.

  11. + The interview:  Your chance to demonstrate your passion.  Make sure you know your “why”. Your “why” tells you “what” to do.  Video.  Read all of the information on the PVA website and understand the program.  Eye contact, well constructed responses.  10% of your score.
