The SAT tests the skills you’re learning in school: reading, writing and language, and math. Should test during the late Spring of junior year. Many colleges no longer require essay Register at www.collegeboard.org
ACT
The ACT measures skills related to courses in school in 4 areas: English, math, reading, and science. It reports those 4 scores, which are averaged together to form a composite score. Should test during the late Spring of junior year. Many colleges no longer require essay Beginning Sept. 2020, students who already completed a full ACT can choose to retake a section of ACT Score reports will now include a calculated Superscore and a Composite Score Register at www.act.org

TEXAS SUCCESS INITIATIVE (TSI)
ASSESSMENT USED TO DETERMINE COURSE PLACEMENT IN COLLEGE AND TO QUALIFY FOR DUAL CREDIT COURSES CAN BE EXEMPT FROM EXAM WITH QUALIFYING SCORES ON SAT OR ACT WE WILL OFFER TSI TESTING IN THE SPRING. DATES WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN VIRTUAL GUIDANCE.
SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL AID
Complete FAFSA online (www.fafsa.ed.gov) ; available October 1st of senior year. The FAFSA must be completed to be considered for scholarships from the university. Parents will need information from completed income tax return from prior prior year. Students must have parent information! You can not be considered independent until 24 years of age. Scholarships are out there, but you have to do the footwork! You should NOT pay for scholarships or scholarship searches. Be wary of scams and adding your name to lists!
