Title IV, Part A – 21 st Century Schools: Student Support and Academic Achievement ¡ History: ¡ On December 10, 2015, President Obama signed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) into law which reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) ¡ Newly Authorized Title IV Federal Goal: ¡ To ensure our education system prepares every child to graduate from high school ready to thrive in college and careers ¡ 3 Components of Title IV: ¡ Well-Rounded Education ¡ Safe and Healthy Students ¡ Effective Use of Technology

Overview of Allowable Activities Under 3 Components ¡ Identify Key Words that Define Each Component ¡ 3 minute – Silent Read and Stop and Jot ¡ 2 minute – Partner Share Stop and Jot ¡ 1 minute – Table Share Stop and Jot ¡ Generally, the LEA may use funds for a variety of activities within each component, including, but not limited to: ¡ Direct services for students ¡ Professional Development ¡ Instructional Supplies, Technology ¡ Salaries of Personnel to carry out identified educational resources

  7. Allotted Funds for Student Support and Academic Enrichment $104,577

  8. Fiscal Requirements There are many federal fiscal requirements, but the following should be considered as you provide input: ¡ Supplement and not Supplant ¡ Funds can be allotted to one eligible school, a few eligible schools or all eligible schools ¡ Funds allotted support the following three components: ¡ Well-Rounded Education (minimum 20% of funds) ¡ Safe and Healthy Students (minimum 20% of funds) ¡ Effective Use of Technology

  9. Eligible Schools ¡ Are among those with the greatest needs ¡ Have the highest number of students from low- income families ¡ Are identified for comprehensive support ¡ Are implementing targeted support and improvement plans *If funds are allotted to more than one school, the LEA will prioritize the distribution of funds.
