22 FEB 2017 EU METGROW+ (GA 690088) - WP MEETING (Barcelona) 14

  • Publish in an Open Access journal or a journal offering per

article Open Access (= ‘Gold’ Open Access)

  • http://www.doaj.org/; http://road.issn.org/en
  • at a cost
  • costs eligible for reimbursement while the project runs
  • Publish ‘traditionally’ but archive in a repository and make

FAQ – Open Access in H2020

  • Do I have to pay for OA?
  • If you want – yes
  • Paying for OA may be good when
  • you really have a scoop & want to be the first online
  • you attach a lot of value to an impact factor
  • If you want to avoid this – check what your publisher allows

BEFORE submitting

  • maybe you can self-archive your version of the article in a

repository and make this public within 6/12 months

EC funding: Increased visibility & ease of monitoring with OpenAIRE

  • OpenAIRE = OA infrastructure for research in Europe
  • harvests articles (and datasets) related to ERC/FP7/Horizon2020

projects

  • for free
  • Great extra visibility

  • Allows you to check what publications are the result of EC-

funding

  • interesting in a consortium where you can see all relevant papers at
  • ne glance
  • direct input into Participant Portal

How does a paper get into OpenAIRE?

  • At KU Leuven: through Lirias – Lirias is OpenAIRE

compliant

  • DOC maintains list – you link paper to the project
  • Your EC-paper will now be harvested by OpenAIRE
  • If Open Access, users will be able to also read your paper from the

OpenAire website
