Substantive Interaction in Distance Education Criteria to Meet the Definition of “Substantive Interaction” – Interactions must be initiated by the instructor Student – Most of these interactions should be done within Falcon Online (i.e. Assignments, Quizzes, Discussions, Gradebook) Engagement – Interactions must be “regular” and somewhat frequent in – Minimum of once weekly Online – Interaction must be “substantive” – of an academic nature – More than "good job," provides substantive feedback Courses Meeting this benchmark of “regular and substantive interaction” in distance education directly impacts our ability to receive federal financial aid, per the U.S. Dept. of Education regulations.
