In these calculations, the potential to host a USA Swimming Regional or Sectional meet were not included since these would not be events hosted each year. They can contribute much larger impact in the years they are hosted in Casper. Based on discussions with aquatic stakeholders in Casper, initial research and analysis and review of comparable community facilities Casper Swim Club and ISG come to the following conclusions:

• The current indoor aquatic facilities in Casper are insufficient to meet

current and future aquatic needs of Casper and its residents

• The current indoor facilities will need extensive and expensive renovation in

the immediate future

• A new multi pool/multi purpose aquatic center can better meet the needs of

the school district and the entire community rather than two smaller single pool high school facilities

• A new multi pool/multi purpose aquatic center can significantly expand

aquatic program participation and can generate significant enhanced revenue to help significantly reduce the annual operation and maintenance expenses of the facility

• New pool technology can reduce operational costs-It is likely that the
• peration expenses of the new facility may actually be less than the current
• perational and maintenance costs of the current high school facilities.

• A new aquatic facility and expanded programming can have a significant

and beneficial impact on the health, fitness and quality of life of the residents and youth of Casper-especially targeting childhood fitness and wellness

• The proposed facility can greatly enhance the participation and

competitiveness of the swimming and diving programs in Casper and the State of Wyoming

• A new competitive facility can attract competitive events from the State and

region and generate significant economic impact in Casper

• Overall, the net operating costs of the new Aquatic Center are likely to be

less than the net operating costs of current school pools

• There will never be a better opportunity to build such a facility with unusually

low construction costs and the need for new pools combining with the growth of interest and participation in aquatic programming of all types.

This presentation is based on the initial work of many interested parties, led by the Casper Swim Club. In order to continue to move the project forward, the next steps are recommended:

• School District to review the benefits and impact of supporting one major

multi-pool aquatic center convenient to the high schools in place of individual smaller one pool facilities in each high school

• Retain consulting services to further research facility feasibility, design,

programming, costs and business/management model

• Conduct a detailed analysis of site options, focusing on integration with

existing facilities, access by users, construction and operational cost variables and other key factors

• Begin to explore ways to coordinate school, city and outside programming

in the Aquatic Facility

• More formally work with potential corporate, private and public organizations

and groups to identify project partners and supporters to help bring the project to fruition
