  • Since 1998, OFI ensures formalization, financing, coordination and project monitoring to indian NGOs like

GRAMIUM and SEVAI. As such, OFI has a real experience on the ground.

  • OFI finances directly rural development in Tamil Nadu, and provides assistance in raising institutional funds

: more than 1 million euros has been raised in the past three years!

A PROJECT GREW OUT OF FRANCO INDIAN COLLABORATION

  • In 2011, a french agronomist specialized in dairy production, S. Marcot, led a field

study…

  • The analysis shows the possibility for milk production’s improvment for 2000 cows bred by Self Help

Groups from SEVAI and GRAMIUM. SHG are women’s groups who pool their ressources to develop economic

  • activities. These women live below poverty line
  • The partners NGOs GRAMIUM and SEVAI set up the objective :

Increase by 20% the dairy production of these 2000 cows, thereby, enable 1000 families to overstep the poverty line

Making vermicompost, organic fertilizer and pesticides. These techniques will provide a better nutritive quality

Phase 1: A 2 month field study

Goal: Identify current husbandry practices(feed, reproduction, health management…)

  • Three agronomy and veterinary students will create a database using the gathered information

Phase 2: Pilot project with a 10 cows sample

Goal: Optimizing dairy production : +2 liters per cow per day

  • OFI is responsible of the project pilot evaluation
  • SEVAI NGO provides a place for farmers training and fields for cattle feed

Phase 3: Large-scale expansion of results : 300 cows, corresponding to about 100 families - Y+1

SEVAI will be responsible to train beneficiaries to the new techniques validated in phase 1

Phase 4: Expansion of new techniques to 3000 cows, that is about 1000 families – Y+2 and Y+3

Pilot phase allow a large-scale expansion of the program

Thanks to OFI members skills, our local partners and farmers benefit from a technical and methodological

  • support. Volonteers ensure good coordination on the project and technical support

Every semester, we communicate photos of the evolution of the project to our donors thanks to our OFI correspondent on the spot, and a reporting of outlay At any moment, we ensure a total financial transparency and the donations traceability thanks to dedicated bank account

Financing the pilot project for 10 cows enables self-funding of the expansion phase for 3000 cows and 1000 families

An integrated development project : rural development and social entrepreneurship

This project, wich aim is to increase farm incomes, is primarily dedicated to women below poverty line, gathered in Self Help Groups. It helps 1000 families to overstep the poverty line in 3 years
