Personal Safety

  • Medications

– Don’t forget!

  • First Aid

– A personal kit is a good idea

  • Dress

– Prepare for high daytime temps, low nighttime temps if at high altitude site – Proper shoes/boots if duties include antenna setup, routing power cabling from generator(s) in off‐site locations

  • Food/Water

– Bring plenty if not provided

slide-10
SLIDE 10

Critter Safety

Applicable for Mountain/Desert Sites

  • Take standard precautions for poisonous snake

avoidance.

– Know what you’re stepping into! – Avoid stepping over rocks/logs into an out‐of‐sight area – If snakes are in hiding and awaiting lunch, it’s unlikely they’ll rattle when confronted…they’ll just strike!

  • Insect repellant is a good idea

– Mosquitoes, bees, wasps, etc

slide-11
SLIDE 11

Physical Strain Safety

  • Do not attempt to lift, pull, push more than you’d do

at home.

– Use leg, arm muscles as opposed to stressing back
