PPO Health Plan Changes

  • 1. The copayment for an office visit with a specialist will increase from $50

per visit to $55 copayment per visit.

  • 2. The service cap for Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy visits

will increase from 20 to 30 visits per calendar year.

  • 3. Employees currently pay 3x copayments for a 90-day prescription. Now
  • nly 2x copayments will be required for the same 90-day supply. Prime

Health Savings Account Benefits

The University of Alabama will also contribute to your HSA. You must enroll and open your HSA account to receive this money! It is not automatic.

Total Administrative Services Corp. (TASC) administers each of these tax-favored accounts: Health Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), and/or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA). TASC is upgrading their system by transitioning to a new Universal Benefit Account (UBA) platform and you will receive communications in the mail to explain how this transition affects you and your account.

  • You will receive a NEW CARD (one card for all accounts), new account number,

and instructions to log in to the new UBA portal. Follow instructions to activate your new card and register your new account.

  • There will be a brief BLACKOUT PERIOD where you will not be able to use your

existing cards. If you incur any eligible expenses during this blackout period, you will still be able to file for manual reimbursement through the new online portal.

Universal Benefit Account

UA will provide a premium discount to benefits-eligible active employees based on:

  • 1. Family size, and
  • 2. Total combined household income (1.5 x 2020 Federal Poverty Level).

To apply, employees must submit most recent Federal Income Tax Return, W-2s and 1099s. The discount is equal to UA’s single high deductible health plan premium = $57 per month. The premium assistance discount is applicable for both health plans, PPO or HDHP. Application Deadlines:  Current Employees – Submit documentation during Open Enrollment (Oct. 15 - 30).  Newly Eligible Employees – 30 days from the effective date of enrollment in health plan.
