Cohort Organization A/B Cohort Model Grades PK - 8 ▷ To the greatest extent practicable , cohorts will be divided alphabetically ○ so that siblings are attending school on the same dates and times, unless special circumstances exist (IEP-related issues, G&T, Algebra and Pre-Algebra, Social Distancing Requirements, etc.). In such circumstances, siblings will be adjusted for ease of scheduling by parents. The Alphabetical cohort division follows: ▷ ○ Monday/Tuesday: Last name begins with A-L Thursday/Friday: Last name begins with M-Z ○

  17. Equity of In-person Days A “Parent Calendar” to be provided for Stage 2 planning purposes. As district moves to stage 3, Cohort Calendar will no longer be needed.

  20. A Word on Related Arts: Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:35-8, the District is required to instruct students in ● health, safety and physical education. The NJ Department of Education has not issued any guidance which otherwise alters this requirement. In its June 2020 guidance, the NJ Department of Education specifically identified Physical Education as a critical area of operation. All students will participate in health/physical education at least two times ● per week. Additional opportunities will be provided in a virtual or pre-recorded format, when necessary. Social Emotional Learning Opportunities (SEL required by NJDOE) ●

What will occur during PM Learning? ▷ After in person instruction: Travel home and eat lunch ○ Complete independent work or homework ○ Virtual Wraparound services, if applicable ○ Additional Gym/PE, if needed ○ ▷ After virtual instruction: Eat lunch ○ Google Meets with teacher(s) following same schedule as AM ○ Complete independent work or homework ○ Virtual Wraparound services , if applicable ○ Additional Gym/PE, if needed ○

  23. Homework ▷ Homework may be assigned by teachers when appropriate. ▷ Homework could include: Independent Reading ○ Skill Practice ○ Completion of a project ○ Pre-assessment for the next day’s lesson ○ ▷ Homework will help to support mastery of primary standards

Learning Management System ▷ Google Classroom will continue to be used to organize delivery, lessons, and materials Google Meet - Increased “Live Learning” ○ Consistent Format across the district ○ ▷ All assignments and tasks will be posted on Google Classroom for all students. ▷ Assignment due dates determined by the teachers

  26. Special Services All instruction, in-person and virtual, will be differentiated based on ▷ student need. Students whose IEP program require a self-contained or ▷ resource room setting will have the option to attend in-person instruction 5 half-days/week. Students whose IEP program require an in-class resource setting ▷ will participate in additional small group instruction as provided by their co-teachers. Case managers will be in touch regarding schedule ○ specifics/logistics

  27. Special Services (continued) All IEP Goals/Objectives will be evaluated by appropriate school ▷ personnel. Compensatory services will be provided, as necessary. ▷ IEP meetings will continue to be held virtually unless specifically ▷ requested by a parent/guardian. CST evaluations (psychological, educational) have resumed as of ▷ Monday, August 3rd.

  28. Special Services (continued) Paraprofessionals will be involved in virtual and in-person ▷ instruction, as indicated by a student’s IEP and teacher discretion. Mask breaks will be provided by a paraprofessional, as needed. ▷ Desensitization of masks will be addressed by support staff ○ (Behaviorist, Registered Behavior Technician, Child Study Team)

Basic Skills Funded by ESEA Grant under Title IA ▷ One full-time interventionist to provide services in both ○ schools during the school day Academic Assistance Program ○ Will begin after assessments are administered ■ Parents of eligible students will be notified ■ Academic Assistance may occur in-person depending ■ on the number of students and cohort assignments. Virtual assistance will also be provided

Gifted & Talented Students identified previously will continue in the program. ▷ Students will meet virtually so that cohorts do not co-mingle. ▷ A schedule will be shared with families in the program in ▷ October.
