WHAT IS A TITLE I SCHOOL?

  • Our school is a Title I school because we receive funds

from the federal government to provide additional resources to assist with the education of our children.

  • We qualify for these additional funds because a high

percentage of our students receive free or reduced meals at our school.

  • The goal of our Title I Program is to ensure every child

is able to learn and perform at levels that meet or exceed the state academic standards. The Title I federal funds we receive help to achieve this goal.

HOW DOES OUR SCHOOL SPEND TITLE I MONEY?

HOW IS TITLE I PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT MONEY SPENT?

  • One full-time Parent Liaison to support parent education and involvement.
  • Parent Liaison works with curriculum support team to conduct parent workshops and

provide parents with resources to help their child(ren) at home with core content areas.

  • Funds also pay for registration fees for Parent Liaison’s attendance to workshops relative

to effective practices on parent involvement and engagement as well as purchase resources for the Parent Resource Room.

HOW DOES OUR SCHOOL PARTICIPATE IN THE TITLE I PROGRAM?

programs is to improve the entire educational program in a Title I school, which should result in improving the academic achievement

A schoolwide reform strategy requires a school to:

  • Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment.
  • Identify and commit to specific goals and strategies that address those needs.
  • Create a comprehensive plan.
  • Conduct an annual evaluation of the effectiveness of the schoolwide program and revise

the plan annually.

WHAT ARE OUR SCHOOLWIDE GOALS FOR LITERACY?

  • By May 2020, the percentage of grades K-2 students performing at Tier 2/3 will decrease

by a minimum of 10 percentage points or more (from 87% to 77% in kindergarten, from 81% to 71% in grade 1, and from 79% to 69% in grade 2) as measured by the iReady Reading Assessment.

  • By May 2020, the percentage of grades 3-5 students performing at the Developing

Learner Level and above (levels 2-4) will increase by 10 percentage points (from 56.49% to 66.49% in grade 3, from 66.94% to 76.94% in grade 4, and from 70% to 80% in grade 5) as measured by the Georgia Milestones ELA Assessment.
