  10. Universal Primer and Surface Preparation Process PROJECT INFORMATION OBJECTIVE Prime/Lead: HII- Ingalls Shipbuilding To reduce paint costs by eliminating the need Team Members: Newport News for mechanical surface preparation when Shipbuilding and Elzly Technology over-coating construction primer. This Corporation project will evaluate alternate primers with Duration: 12 months extended overcoat windows and develop the technical and business case for their use. DELIVERABLES/BENEFITS/ROI • Survey of requirements and candidate products • Test plan for demonstrating the candidates • Report containing test and application process data • Final comprehensive report with analysis, recommendations, and business case 10

  11. Partial Blast of Ultra High Solids Coated Tanks PROJECT INFORMATION OBJECTIVE Prime/Lead: Elzly Technology Corp. Quantify the risks and benefits of a partial Team Members: NASSCO; BAE Southeast blast for use in ultra-high solids coated tanks Systems Shipyards on Navy Ships. The process allows for a small Duration: 12 months amount of remaining tightly adhering coating. If the process can effectively be implemented for surface ships, the potential costs savings will be quantified and wording for NSI 009-032 will be developed. DELIVERABLES/BENEFITS/ROI • Final report and project briefings • Proposed specification language for incorporation into NSI 009-32 • Planning guidance on risk and reward of the proposed approach 11

  12. Alternative Corrosion Control Methods for Inaccessible Void Spaces PROJECT INFORMATION OBJECTIVE Prime/Lead: Elzly Technology Corporation To compile application and performance data Team Members: Bath Iron Works on the various alternative corrosion control Duration: 12 months methods that have been used. Based on this data, a guide document for shipbuilders will be developed that will contain logic for selecting appropriate alternative treatment methods. DELIVERABLES/BENEFITS/ROI • Develop guidance document • Recommend framework for NAVSEA to consider in its technical documents • Reduce the cost and impact of treating inaccessible voids during construction/repair 112

  13. Implementation of Robust Paperless Paint PROJECT INFORMATION OBJECTIVE Prime/Lead: BAE Systems Southeast Shipyard Implement the existing technology by Team Members: TruQC, Elzly Technologies, working with SupShip, NAVSEA, RMCs, prime, 2 nd and 3 rd tier contractors in their HII-Ingalls, NASSCO, IMIA LLC, Surface Technologies Corporation ports, providing hardware and hands on Duration: 12 months training. Followed by a shipboard pilot program where the legacy (paper) system is measured against Papaerless QA system. DELIVERABLES/BENEFITS/ROI • Delivered a true paperless QA system to the US Navy and NSRP shipbuilding and repair Yards • Update paperless QA software to FY16 009.32 • Timely identification if issues • Reduce QA costs 13

  14. Boomlift Carried Environmental Enclosure (BCEE) PROJECT INFORMATION OBJECTIVE Prime/Lead: BAE Systems Southeast Shipyard Complete evaluation of the Boomlift Team Members: Norx LLC, Elzly Technology, Carried Environmental Enclosure (BCEE). BAE Systems Norfolk The team will train employees on the Duration: 12 months installation and operational procedures of the BCEE. Complete time studies comparing open air spray against the capture device. Complete cost evaluation of the BCEE vs containment costs. DELIVERABLES/BENEFITS/ROI • Proof of concept/implementation in Shipyards • Working units available for sale or rent • Summary report 14

  15. Thermal Spray Coating of 5XXX Aluminum PROJECT INFORMATION OBJECTIVE Prime/Lead: Concurrent Technologies Evaluate the use of thermal spray Corporation (CTC) aluminum coatings as an effective Team Members: Newport News Shipbuilding, preventative measure for sensitization and Bath Iron Works, Marinette Marine, Naval stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in aluminum Surface Warfare Center – Carderock, NAVSEA ship structures. 05P, NAVSEA 21 Duration: 12 months DELIVERABLES/BENEFITS/ROI • Test data and a road map for new specifications to prevent sensitization and SCC in 5XXX aluminum on marine structures • Final report and briefings 15
