SLIDE 2 1882: The township of Rotorua was planned around the therapeutic thermal springs. The first bath house in Rotorua was built on site of the Priest Spring (same location as Polynesian Spa today) and promoted as a health resort by local government. Polynesian Spa is the only spa today to have access to this spring. Alongside the Priest Spring is the Rachel Spring. The waters from this spring were described as soothing on the skin and it was rumoured that those who use the Rachel Bath would be blessed with ageless beauty. Due to the natural silica content the waters of the Rachel Spring leave the skin feeling soft and supple.
