Microsoft Teams at Golborne
We have five Houses each led by a Head of House:
- We are very proud of our vertical system which allows interaction between
students of different ages and thereby enhances the pastoral life of the school.
- There is a structured tutoring programme in place covering current affairs,
personal development, Careers, literacy/numeracy, PSHE (Circle time), developing knowledge of how to revise and prepare for assessments/examinations, administrative tutoring tasks and to check log books.
- Each House has a Head of House who, along with the Form Tutors, stays with the
children from Years 7- 10.
- In September there will be some temporary modifications to the House structure
due to the current situation. As soon as we are able to do so we will revert to our
- riginal structure.
- Pupils are placed in houses after careful consideration of information from
primary schools and siblings.

Mentoring Sessions /Intervention
Each child in a tutor group is seen on a number of occasions throughout the year. Academic and pastoral development will be discussed and successes celebrated through reward cards, points and communication with parents.
Mentoring
Home Learning
- Pupils will have homework set on a regular basis. Pupils and
parents will be able to quickly and easily access homework that has been set by subject staff for classes and individuals with the use of ‘Edulink’.
- Parents and pupils can access this with the app or via the link
- n the school website and have immediate access and up-to-
date information on current homework.
- The aim is to eliminate homework worries and to make study
more independent.
- It also supports parents who wish to take a more active role in
their child’s home learning.
Logbook
- At the start of each year each child will be provided with a log book.
- The logbook has the following benefits:
- Pupils can log and record homework
- Space available to write in pupils’ timetable
- Map of the school
- School calendar
- Communication tool for parents
- Each week parents and personal tutors are required to sign pupils
logbook so that they are up to date with any issues where support maybe required.
Cashless System
- We operate a cashless canteen system. This means no money passes
through the tills.
- Pupils can add money to their account in two ways:
- Using secure cash payment machines located around school.
- Using Wisepay – our online payments’ system – whereby parents
add money over the internet to their child’s school food account.
- Both systems are safe and secure and significantly cut queueing times in
the canteen.
- There is a maximum daily spend limit on each child’s account (currently
£4.50) to ensure that they only spend an appropriate amount each day.

One Way System. To ease congestion on the corridors the school have introduced a
- ne way system. Pupils will be required to move in a clockwise
direction around school during the during the school day.
The reward system focuses on excellent classwork & homework, representing their House or the school, good attendance and
- punctuality. The new LORIC reward system has an emphasis on our
whole school curriculum but would also develop the individual qualities and characteristics of the pupil such as leadership, organization, resilience, initiative and communication.
