2.4 Who needs PD Points?

• Coaches who are CERTIFIED in the current NCCP
• Currently only applies to GF, C1 & C2 CERTIFIED Coaches

(Levels NCCP certified coaches do not require PD points at this time, however; when Gymnastics Canada completes the transition and the Levels NCCP coaches have their qualifications transferred, they will have to start collecting PD points, effective immediately.)

2.4 Maintenance of Certification

Reminder -Maintenance of Certification

Coaches who do not complete their Professional Development(PD) points within the assigned timeframe (for GymCan: 5 years):

• Will not have their certification renewed in the Locker (status will be “Certified-not

renewed”).

• May be ineligible to coach at a certain level or competition where they are required

to be Certified in a certain context.

To renew their certification status gymnastics coaches must:

• Complete the remaining Professional Development points; or Complete the

evaluation again. Completing the evaluation again will always automatically renew their status.

• Once a coach has renewed, their new maintenance cycle will begin on January 1st of

the following year.

2.7 Online Evaluations

THEORY + INTRO + SPORT SPECIFIC + EVALUATION = CERTIFIED

• Step 1: You have attended the GF Theory, Introduction and Sport

Specific course(s). You are also 16 years of age or older.

• Step 2: You have reviewed and completed the Gymnastics Foundations

Evaluation Package

• Step 3: Visit https://evaluation.abgym.ab.ca to upload evaluation
• requirements. Payment of $50 will be required at time of application.
• Step 4: Wait to hear from your Coach Evaluator for pre-brief.
• Step 5: Upload a lesson observation or request onsite observation. You

will be emailed a link once your portfolio has been approved.

• Step 6: Coach Evaluator de-briefs with coach.
• Step 7: Upon successful completion, results of evaluation and certificate

are sent to coach.

2.8 Hosting NCCP Courses

• Consider Hosting a Course! Or more!
• Host Clubs are needed for ALL NCCP Courses
• Visit NCCP Hosting Application (hosting requirements)
• Dedicated facility?
• Email NCCP Manager at education@abgym.ab.ca
• 4-6 weeks to plan/organize a course
• Course is closed 1-1.5 weeks prior to start
• AGF no longer accepts late registrations
• GF coaches need to be 15 years of age
• Minimum number of coaches per course
