  3. G O R T T The GoRTT and by extension the Ministry H O U S I N G understands that poverty reduction and P O L I C Y the provision of goods and services with respect to shelter must be addressed in a holistic manner to ensure sustainable livelihoods and a decent quality of life for all citizens

  4. U N D E R L Y I N G T o provide quality and affordable P R I N C I P L E housing for eligible citizens; T o improve the living conditions of low O F N A T I O N A L H O U S I N G to lower middle income families; P O L I C Y T o facilitate repair work on existing housing stock to reduce demand on the Ministry’s implementing agency – Trinidad and T obago Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

  5. T H E P U B L I C Affordable Housing Programme – H O U S I N G P R O G R A M M E - Mortgaged Units - Rent to Own - Rental/License to Occupy - Mortgage Financing

  6. T H E P U B L I C Allocation Policy – H O U S I N G Targets eligible citizens from the low to lower middle income groups P R O G R A M M E

  7. T H E P U B L I C Allocation Policy – H O U S I N G 5% of all housing units to be allocated within a given development are made P R O G R A M M E available to eligible senior citizens and persons living with disabilities

  8. T H E S E C O N D This Programme was designed to N A T I O N A L regularise squatters in designated areas S E T T L E M E N T S in accordance with the provisions outlined P R O G R A M M E in the State Land (Regularisation of T enure) Act 25 of 1998

T H E S E C O N D T o facilitate Security of T enure for N A T I O N A L squatters through a streamlined S E T T L E M E N T S programme for the execution of P R O G R A M M E statutory leases and Deeds of Lease T o partner with other state agencies to ensure containment of squatting on state lands T o reduce the incidences of squatting through public education

G O V E R N M E N T ' S This Programme is intended to A I D E D S E L F - complement the existing Housing H E L P H O U S I N G Programme by facilitating financial and P R O G R A M M E technical support to eligible citizens seeking to construct their own homes with the state’s assistance. The Programme targets persons with and without land.

  11. H O M E The purpose of the grant is to provide I M P R O V E M E N T much needed financial assistance to low G R A N T income families to effect critical repairs P R O G R A M M E and upgrades to their existing homes to reduce the demand on new housing stock.
