Proposal

➢Each APA and feed-through will have a XX YY-ZZ label, where XX specify the kind of element (APA, CE for CE feed-through, TGrad for the feed-through of the temperature gradient monitor, etc), YY the position in the East-West direction (which is the beam direction) and ZZ the position in the North-South direction: ✔ Upstream (US), Midstream (MS), and Downstream (DS) will be used everywhere to specify the YY component of the label ✔ Beam Right (BR), and Beam Left (BL) will be used to specify the ZZ component of the label for APAs (as already established) ✔ DAQ Side (DaS), and Rack Side (RaS) wil be used to specify the ZZ component of the label for the feed-throughs ➢Racks in detector ground will be named according to whether they are in the Front (closest to the cryostat) or Back (farthest from the cryostat) row and with a numbering scheme going from upstream towards downstream

Reason(ing)

➢FT and racks names will be mainly used during the installation phase, and to label and install cables – all occasions where people will be in EHN1 if not on the cryostat

  • roof. It is then useful to name them according to visible and clear reference points in

the building ➢APA names will instead be used – other than during the installation and cabling phase – also in slow control and online monitor plots, as well as during data

  • analysis. It will be important to relate the single APA to characteristics observed in

beam data, and such name convention will likely be used by remote people too, so it does make sense to choose a name which quickly identifies the APA position wrt the beam ➢The change of name convention moving from an APA to its FT should create no problem either during installation (being each FT right above its APA) or later, provided that good documentation will be realized
