Branches of international organisations are also eligible for scholarship programme. Candidates can also propose an organisation that is not yet in our database, provided that it meets the requirements 7 International Office

  9. Traineeship-Scholarship • Who can apply? • You are a final year student in a KU Leuven master’s programme. • You will graduate before October 2019. (February 2019, July 2019, September 2019) • You have already applied for a traineeship that will start after your graduation. 9 International Office

Traineeship-Scholarship • Eligible organisations? • International organisations and their branches worldwide; the organisations have been established by a treaty or by another instrument of international law; often they have states as members and are funded mainly through contributions from the member states or through tax money. • Belgian embassies and consulates, as well as Flemish Representations. 10 International Office

  11. Traineeship-Scholarship • Which traineeships are eligible? • The traineeship should be unpaid (no stipend or any financial remuneration). Not possible to combine the scholarship with other types of grants (f.e. Flanders Traineeship Programme) • The duration of the traineeship should be at least 1 month and 6 months at the most. • The traineeship must be completed within one year after the date of graduation. 11 International Office

  12. Traineeship-Scholarship • Deadline? • Call is open for the academic year 2018-2019. You will be informed within 2 months after applying. Final year master’s students can apply during academic year 2018-2019. No specific deadline. 12 International Office

Traineeship-Scholarship • How to apply? • Online application tool • a motivation letter (with a maximum of 2 pages); CV (with a maximum of 2 pages); transcripts of records of previous and current academic years; proof that the applicant actually applied for the traineeship that is being referred to in the application form • (if already available) - must be sent afterwards: confirmation that the applicant has been accepted; diploma certificate (master's degree); if already available; • Recommendation letter professor KU Leuven (optional) 13 International Office

Traineeship-Scholarship • Selection criteria • Is the traineeship a motivated choice towards an (international) professional career? • Is there a relevant link with the applicant's study programme? • What is the applicant's interest in the host country/city? What about intercultural aspects, relevant language skills, a special affinity with the host country? • Does the applicant refer to relevant extra-curricular activities or to an engagement in such activities? • In case of comparable application files, priority will be given to vulnerable socio-economic situation and best study results. 14 International Office

(max 6 months – monthly allowance) • Brussels based traineeships: • A monthly allowance of €300 • Traineeships within Europe (in Member States of the EU, Switzerland, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Turkey) • A monthly allowance of € 750 • Traineeships outside Europe • A monthly allowance of € 1000 15 International Office

  16. Traineeship-Scholarship • Grants? Payments • The amounts listed are maximum amounts. Depending on the availability of funds, the scholarship will be fully or partially supported. • 70% of the grant will be paid after submission of the Traineeship Agreement, signed by the applicant and the host organisation. The Traineeship Agreement must be signed prior to the start of the traineeship. The remaining 30% of the grant will be paid upon completion of the traineeship and after submission of an evaluation report and video testimony to the KU Leuven International Office. 16 International Office
