Stromlo Leisure Centre

  • ACT Government has committed $33 million to the construction of a 50

metre pool in Stromlo Forest Park.

  • The RFT for the design and construction was released on 6 September 2017

and closes on 7 November 2017.

  • A construction contract is expected to be awarded in late 2017, with the

construction to be completed in late 2019.

  • Early works have already started with the overflow car park in Stromlo

Forest Park and with trees and large rocks being relocated to other parts of Stromlo Forest Park.

Remaining Part of Site

  • The ACT Government will proceed with a Territory Plan Variation
  • n the remaining part of the site, Block 3. This will restrict certain

uses including:

– residential care accommodation – supportive housing – retirement village

  • The Territory Plan Variation will change the precinct map and

code prohibiting residential uses of Block 3. It will be released for public consultation soon.

  • Block 3 is scheduled for sale in 2018-19. The purchaser will be

required to provide a community activity centre of 120m2 Gross Floor Area.

  • A Community Needs Assessment was prepared to support the

planning change and community activity centre. It is available on the Taskforce’s website.
