What is dual enrollment?

  • The MCC Dual Enrollment Academy is a

program designed for high school students interested in earning college credit while working towards high school graduation requirements.

  • MCC serves more than 1500 dual enrollment

students each semester.

Who qualifies?

  • High school or home school students in good

standing who have a minimum 2.0 GPA and meet multiple measures.

– PSAT 480 or higher – ENG101 eligible

  • Students who have the approval of their

guidance counselors or home school advisors, and parent signature.

Dual Enrollment-Advanced Placement Comparisons Dual Enrollment Advanced Placement High school credit is earned with passing grade High school credit is earned with passing grade Students must meet Multiple Measures criteria: 2.0 GPA, 480 PSAT, ENG101 eligible Districts set their own eligibility criteria College credit with passing grade, credit transferable to public postsecondary colleges and universities (per MassTransfer) and private colleges College credit only for students with satisfactory score on the AP exam Credit policies vary by postsecondary institution Courses are offered at the high school & on the college campus, a wide range of courses available with the exception of remedial (pre-college) courses Courses are offered at the high school and follow a prescribed, standardized curriculum

general education, core, or distribution requirements, consisting of 34 college-level credits.

  • These credits when completed together with

a 2.0 or higher GPA, fully transfer to any Massachusetts public higher education institution.

Students completing an associates degree with at least 60 credit hours are eligible to transfer into a Massachusetts state university with no:

– application fee – no application essay – automatic satisfaction of general education requirements – guaranteed transfer credit – guaranteed admission (2.5 or higher) – 33% tuition waiver for those with a 3.0 or higher
