The land was acquired by French transplant Antoine Michoud Higgins Aircraft contracted to build C-46 cargo planes at Michoud Chrysler Corporation received con- tract to manufacture 12-cylinder engines for Sherman and Patton tanks

1970s 1965 1961

Apollo program ended and work began on the Space Shuttle Officially changed name to the Michoud Assembly Facility NASA took over the facility. Chrys- ler and Boeing were assigned to set up production for the first stages of Saturn 1 and Saturn V

The Space Shuttle Program ended LM delivers the Orion Multi-Pur- pose Crew Vehicle Michoud currently manufactures theSpace Launch System (SLS)
