  11. TEFAP Forecast and Trade Mitigation • In 2018, the US began sharply increasing tariffs on certain goods; in response, nations like Mexico, Canada, and China also instituted tariffs. • Many industries have been affected by this ‘trade war,’ including agriculture. • In August 2018, the government announced $1.2 billion in purchases to offset the impact of trade issues. • Purchasing happened in 4 phases (Dec 18 – Mar 19, Apr – Jun 19, Jul – Sep 19, Oct – Dec 19) • $559M for pork, $93M for apples, $85M for dairy, $55M for oranges, $48M for grapes, $48M for rice, $18M for navy beans, $14M for kidney beans, $12M for peas • On May 20, 2019, USDA announced an additional $1.4 billion in food purchases starting in October 2019 (distribution starting January 2020) • We don’t have a specific commodity plan yet but we can expect that this coming year will look a lot like the last 6 months in terms of types of commodities • We are working to find a manageable quantity to accept to avoid some of the overwhelming quantities experienced by some sites this year. 12

  15. Link 2 Feed 16

  16. Service Insights Initiative - Link 2 Feed • A lot has happened since January! • 17 agencies are actively using L2F at distributions • Two agencies going live today 6/26/19 • Expecting an additional 5 sites to go live in the next two weeks • 21 agencies have had their data imported from Food Bank Manager • 3 agencies chose to ‘start fresh’ and not import data • Most agencies have only been reporting for 1-2 months (or less) so our data is still preliminary but… 17

  17. Service Insights Initiative - Link 2 Feed • As of 5:00 PM yesterday, 12,713 visits have been logged in L2F by 6,969 unique households. • Age groups served (individuals, duplicated) 18

  18. Service Insights Initiative - Link 2 Feed • While most pantry goers report having no dietary restrictions, among those who report, the top three most reported dietary considerations are: 1) Low Sugar 2) Low Sodium 3) Lactose Intolerance • Approximately 26% of our pantry visitors report being employed (full time, part time, multiple jobs, self-employed, etc.), 21% report being retired, and 18% report not working due to a disability. • We have several pantries in Rockford – 5 of them currently use Link2Feed • Of the 2,116 unique individuals served at our Winnebago Community Market, 24% also visited St. Elizabeth’s Food Pantry and 18% also visited Cornucopia Food Pantry. • We are looking forward to having more time to log visits and look at ‘rates of activity’ – preliminarily , 58% of households are projected to only visit a pantry 1 time / year. • 39.65% of seniors (age 60+) report living in their own home; an additional 39.59% report living in a private rental. • Overall population reports 50.10% in a private rental followed by 27.56% who report owning their home. 19
