  • All 6 fields, there will be a team of first aid

and emergency medical units, which consist of doctors, nurses, medical supplies and ambulance services throughout the competition.

  • In cases that require advanced medical

treatment, the team will provide ambulance services to deliver patient to a large hospital, as appropriate.

  • We have provided the first aid team, which

consists of nurses, medicine, medical supplies, and ambulances at the large hotels (Headquarters) that has a lot of competitors .

  • However, some hotels do not have a first aid

team but we have already coordinated with those hotels. You can contact us through the hotel staffs.

  • C. Airport
  • There will be a first aid team and emergency

medical units provided in the Phuket International airport during the competitors’ arrival and departure. The period of service and service staffs will depend on the number of the competitors.

units, which consist of doctors, nurses, medical supplies and ambulance service at OCA Coordination Center 24 hours a day throughout the competition.

Where accredited persons including Asian Olympic Family VIP guests, technical officials, delegation members, NOC VIP guests and NOC guests suffer from acute diseases, acute exacerbations of chronic diseases or acute injuries and emergent dental services, they can receive free treatment at designated medical space and medical stations in venues and free services only in 3 official designated hospitals including emergency treatment, inpatient service, expert consultation and ambulance transfer when necessary. The standards on medical services are the same as the coverage of the national basic medical insurance for the Thai citizens.

Patient Transferring Management

transferring the patients 24 hours a day throughout the competition. The ambulances will be with the medical teams and first aid units according to various points above. Moreover, there are also ambulances and emergency rescue units cover all area of

Health Insurance

  • The competitors and staffs who have the health

insurance can access to all of the service units above with the coverage of your own insurance.

  • Incase of admission is needed and a private

hospital is your choice. You must be reponsible for all expenses on your own where you may pay in cash, credit card or contact your insurance agent.

  • Repatriation
  • In the event of accidental injury or death of an

Asian Olympic Family member, where the wounded or the corpse is needed to be transported back to the home country with confirmation of the OCA Medical Committee, PABGOC will be responsible for the costs for the transport and arrange accompanying medical staff as necessary according to the seriousness of the injury within the period of the competition.

Implemented Public Health Measures

  • A. Food and Water Sanitation
  • Public health team has examined the people who cook

and touch the food, kitchen and cooking equipments, food storage and transport, all of raw materials and ingredients to find the pathogens in the food and water, as well as contaminants that may cause the disease. The team perform random inspection of the food and water everywhere the participants experience throughout the competition.

  • B. Environmental Sanitation
  • The Public Health team has examined environment

around the competition areas and hotels that the participants experience such as water, air conditioning system, water and waste disposal system, and the elimination of pest and disease vectors, according to the public health standards throughout the competition

  • C. Surveillance Systems and Disease Investigation
  • The medical and public health team has set

up a specially surveillance system for this competition to monitor the situation of the disease that may occur to the competitors which will gathers information about the illness of competitors from every service unit as mentioned above.

  • The team will analyze, evaluate the situation and

sent a Surveillance and Rapid Response Team (SRRT) to investigate the suspicious area.

Disease in the area that should be protected

  • A. Influenza
  • The period of this competition often have an outbreak of

influenza in a year. Every hospital in Phuket has prepared medicine, medical supplies and medical personnel with the experience and expertise available to provide medical attention. However, if you have fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, headache. We suggest you should contact the medical unit in order to treat appropriately and you should protect yourselves by washing hands with soap or alcohol gel frequently.

  • B. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever
  • Dengue fever is a local disease of tropical zone such as Phuket.

Mosquito is the disease vector for this disease. The patients will have symptoms of high fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, joint and muscle pain. We suggest you should contact the medical unit if you have the above symptoms. And for the prevention, you should avoid mosquito bites by using a mosquito repellent cream or spray and avoid the areas with mosquitoes.

  • C. Diarrhea, Food Poisoning
  • Diarrhea and food poisoning are diseases that frequently

found in the tropics which mainly caused by the contamination of bacteria and viruses in food and water that patient get eaten. The resulting symptoms are diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting and fever. We suggest you should contact the medical unit if you have the above symptoms. And for the prevention, you should eat cooked foods while they are still hot and wash your hands before handling food.

  • D. Road Traffic Accident

Road traffic accident is a common problem among tourist which mainly caused by the improper driving behaviors such as drunk driving, not wearing a helmet, not follow the traffic laws, driving with high speed, etc. These are prohibited by laws. However, if you have to drive, we suggest you strictly comply with traffic laws and driving carefully.
