Mayoral Award

  • Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a very rare genetic condition
  • the skin and internal body linings blister at the slightest knock or rub, causing painful, open wounds.
  • DebRA was founded in 1978 by a group of parents whose children

were affected by EB.

  • DebRA Groups now established in 32 countries around the world
  • DebRA only national patient support group and medical research

charity in the UK for EB

  • UK DebRA is the main funder of specialist EB treatment and research

facilities at national and regional level.

  • DebRA relies entirely on voluntary donations.

  • COATS Society was set up in the 1960s
  • COATS bought Woodmancote Centre in 1970
  • Residential Respite Care Home until October 2003
  • COATS is a registered charity, managed 12 Trustees
  • Annual turnover £166,000

(£12K from BFC/WBC)

  • Charity shop raises £60,000 a year
  • Minibus makes 2,100 trips a year with 11 drivers
  • 144 meals per week raising £25,000
