The 8 Math Practice Standards
- We incorporate the 8 Math Practice Standards daily in our
lessons.

Question…
I am really good at 8th grade math! Can I take Algebra in summer school so I can start in Geometry as a freshman?
We DO NOT recommend Algebra in summer school. Algebra is the FOUNDATION of future math success; any 6 week program will not provide what we can provide in 36 week school year.
What is the difference between Algebra 1 and Algebra 1 Academy?
- Alg Block/Academy = Alg 11+Alg Academy
Two periods: 1 math and 1 elective credit
- Algebra Academy provides additional support,
pre teaching, re-teaching & study support
- Students in Algebra 1 or Algebra 1 Academy
will take a Geometry course as a sophomore.
Can my student be successful in an Honors level math class?
Successful Honors level students must…
- Be able to problem solve and persevere
independent and in small groups
- Be self motivated & critical thinkers
- Enjoy daily academic challenges
- Be a little excited about a good math problem
- Go above and beyond teacher expectations
Freshman Honors classes allow for growth and maturity in these areas
Do ALL students need calculators? YES!
- A calculator is required
in all math classes.
- A graphing calculator is
required beginning with Algebra 1.
- A version of the TI - 84 is
recommended.
