  13. Day School Hours Remarks 7.30* – 1.45am Mon to Recess: 10.10 - 10.35am Thurs Break: 12.05 - 12.15pm 7.30* – 3.00pm PAL: 7.40 – 10am Fri (inclusive of recess break) Lunch: 12 – 12.30pm *Saints are to be with their class by 7.30am. Do try to be in school by 7.20am. Note: 7.27a.m. 44

  17. First 2 days in School • Parents to leave their son with the teacher, parent volunteers or student leaders on duty, on the ground level near the blue staircase , upon arrival. • P1 Saints will gather in the school hall before returning to their classrooms for morning assembly. • Please do not enter the classrooms. You can wait in the canteen and join us for the beginning of term service at the school field. • During recess, you can wait at designated areas outside the canteen. 48

Mentoring Programme • Recess Time: 10.10 am – 10.40 am • Every P1 Saint will have a P4 recess buddy for Week 1, and Week 2 Monday and Friday (lunch). • He should know his food allergies and inform his buddy of them (if any). • Please give your son the opportunity to be independent. Parents can observe outside the canteen during the first 2 days. 49

  19. School Attire • Monday Saints must be in school uniform regardless of whether they have Physical Education (PE) lessons. They can change into their PE attire before their PE lesson. • Tuesday -Thursday Saints are to wear their school uniform. However, if they have PE lessons, they can wear their P.E. attire to school and remain in it till the end of the day. • Friday Saints to wear P.E. attire throughout the day.

  22. Items to be brought to school (1 st 3 days) Please refer to the yellow handout given to you, along with the other forms. Workbooks, exercise books and files will be kept by the subject teachers. 53

  24. Saints who are unwell/injured • Saints report to their teacher or General Office staff. • Teacher or General Office staff (not Saints) will call parents. Parents must obtain visitors’ pass at the guard post. • Parents then go to office and sign the “Permission • to leave School” form, which also has to be signed by a teacher. A reply slip will be given and this has to be shown at the guard post for clearance. Saints who are unwell or suffering from infectious illnesses are to stay at home. Please submit the MC to the Form Teacher upon the student’s return to school. 55

  25. Dismissal (1 st few days) 1.10 pm – Saints assemble in the hall Queue according to those who a) take the school bus b) go to the boarding house c) go via the side gate (parents to be at side gate by 1.30pm) Give clear instructions to your son. Do not make exceptions for Day 1. 56

  26. Dismissal (Usual practice) • Parents picking up their sons after school at the side gate, please be there by 1.40pm. • Teachers will dismiss P1 Saints only when the parent is at the side gate. • Parents who drive – please adhere to traffic rules and be considerate of the safety of others. 57

  27. Parents’ Support • Talk to your son about life in a ‘big school’ in a positive way. • Walk through with your son what he can expect on the first day of school – environment, curriculum, school hours. • Tell him that the teacher is there to care for him. 62

Parents’ Support • Do go through with your son the book that they have received from the teacher in class- covers tips and activities for a great start to primary school • Train your son to be as independent as possible. E.g. toilet habits, putting on his uniform, buttoning his shirt, tying shoe laces. • Do check that your son has his nametag on his shirts and tee- shirts. Train him to look after his personal belongings. Please label all his belongings (including his shoes) with his name and class. 63

Parents’ Support • Teach basic money sense - give your son the opportunity to run errands and make purchases under supervision. • Do check with him daily what he spent his pocket money on. • Remind him of food allergies even if the school has been notified. He needs to know this for his own safety. • Food for break time (Mon-Thurs: 12.05-12.15pm) 64
