The most important thing is CHARACTER… Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

Luke 6:44-45

slide-8
SLIDE 8

What can you expect?

  • Imagine having 30 to 40 boys in your house …
  • And you are trying to teach them something…
  • For 6 hours…
  • From 7.30… to 1.45pm…
slide-9
SLIDE 9

What to expect…

  • Happy
  • Orderly
  • Engaged in Learning
  • Getting along well with

everyone

  • Doing well in academics
  • Good character
  • Happy
  • Chaotic but learning takes place

through different experiences such as…

  • Quarrels, pulling, pushing, sometimes

“inappropriate” language and actions

  • Injuries
  • Missing things, forgetting things
  • Turn taking
  • Everyone has a role to play when

differences occur

Idea eal Reali lity ty

slide-10
SLIDE 10

What to expect…

Reality continues….

  • Hygiene level of toilets
  • Exponential growth in number of watsapp

messages and possible anxiety

  • Traffic jams especially during raining
  • Dust and noise due to PERI upgrading
slide-11
SLIDE 11

My Learning

  • There is only a perfect school if every child is

perfect, every parent is perfect and every staff is perfect

  • Parents have different expectations
  • School is a place to make mistakes and learn

but it doesn’t mean there are no consequences for the mistakes made

  • Learn to bravely face the consequence and learn not to

commit the same mistake again!

  • Every child is different but each is learning to

find his place in this society

slide-12
SLIDE 12

I hope…

  • Everyone is a Servant Leader especially a Community

Builder

  • Seek to help every child and staff improve
  • Positive Culture with Thanksgiving in all circumstances
  • Resilient Spirit
  • Unity – we are all part of the same body
  • Respect authority
slide-13
SLIDE 13

How You can be a Community Builder

  • Role modelling
  • Be positive
  • Show thanksgiving
  • Respect the school as the authority
  • Have a realistic perspective of what a

school will be like

  • Trust teachers’ professionalism
  • We are mentors, not vendors (nor hotel

concierge)

slide-14
SLIDE 14

How You can be a Community Builder

  • Give our Saints the opportunity to be

independent and even show leadership

  • Do not bring things for our Saints if they have

forgotten to bring. Let them learn to bear with the consequence of their actions.

  • Teach them to listen to instructions and take down

notes.

  • Help our Saints to be a problem solver so that

he can be a community builder

  • Give every Saint the time and chance to

learn

slide-15
SLIDE 15

So how do YOU start?

slide-16
SLIDE 16

Tips & Activities For A Great Start to Primary Schools
