  8. Distance meetings with FCL Ambassadors and researchers What’s your main focus (classroom, school, teacher training, etc.)? Is research already undertaken? On what? What are the findings? What research questions are you interested in? Do you already cooperate with researchers? What are the main stakeholders in the area? With FCL Ambassadors With FCL Ambassadors & researcher/s

  9. FCL - Existing research and/or topics of interest FCL as ‘classroom’ FCL in teacher training (CPD) Whole school as learning space Denmark • Transfer of what is learnt in FCL into real context practice Italy • ‘Feed -back ’ as part of the FCL areas • Scaling up access to FCL (mobile FCL, etc.) Portugal • Space promotes but doesn’t guaranty • Student/Teacher interaction ( feed-back ) in FCL • Conditions and mechanisms for school support change • Designing new learning environments • Spaces where pupils best concentrate and commit Finland together with local companies (pupil’s feelings + brain wave data) • Transformation in teacher training schools • Sensors to measure characteristics of the learning environment and learners ’ position in the space Spain • FCL for ITE in each Autonomous Community • Use of the zones and technology BE/Flanders • Does the space change the practice? • FCL and teacher diversity/collaboration Norway • Impact of FCL used in ITE when • Conditions for sustainability teaching later as professionals Austria France

  10. Proposed focus for the FCL research programme • How experience and learning acquired in the FCL equipped with technology is transferred by teachers into daily classroom practice? (technology understanding/use by teacher and student competences/activities; use of ethnographic methods) • How to scale up - what could be the mechanisms supporting: o increased access to FCL type of space? (regional hubs, mobile FCL, etc.) o mainstream use of the FCL type of space at whole school level? o sustainability of FCL type of practice within a school even after a change in school leadership? • What are the conditions for the learner experience to be an active one in the FCL ? (well being, cognitive experience) • Whole school level (still to come)

  11. FCL Research programme - Next steps Starting by creating a European network of researchers around the FCL network: o to share expertise and findings, pooling resources > increase knowledge base; joint research possibly at mid-term o organised in clusters (depending topic of interest) o project based research and pluridisciplinary network (researchers, FCL ambassadors, architects, designers; teachers, teacher trainers, developers, etc. ) o evolutive and flexible; room for country/system specificities (aligning curriculum, practice, space and technology)

  12. FCL Research programme - Next steps ➢ Continue distance meetings with countries interested by mid-December 2019 (Austria, Italy, etc.) ➢ Co-drafting a proposal under the COST action (European Cooperation in Science and Technology funding research and innovation networks): o funding meetings (study visits, workshops, etc.) and dissemination (papers, websites) o 7 countries min.; 4 years duration on average; limited budget (ex: 130.000€/year for 25 members) o next deadline for submission: 29 April 2020 ➢ Discussing with FCL Ambassadors main ideas of the COST proposal With or without COST funding: ➢ Producing 2-3 case studies in 2020 about FCL models in countries

  13. FCL Research programme and FCL Ambassadors network ➢ Support to identify FCL research programme members at country level (researchers, architects, etc.) ➢ FCL Ambassadors as participants to the research programme (those interested) ➢ Regular exchanges with all Ambassadors about research findings - input from Ambassadors to future research questions

  15. Local FCLs Who/where are they? Purpose (used by pupils/students – in-service trainings?) In what way are you, as ambassador, connected to them? Are they ‘Inspired by’ FCL EUN? Action Plan 1. Give overview of learning spaces in your country 2. What can we do to bring the labs in our eco-system?
