Savona is a small town in the northern Italian region of Liguria, in the “Riviera di Ponente”, on the Mediterranean Sea. Savona is situated between the Mediterranean Alps and the Ligurian sea and has a population of about sixty thousand people. Its climate is mild and sunny for most of the year. Savona used to be one of the chief seats of the Italian iron industry, having foundries, shipbuilding, railway workshops and a brass foundry. Today it’s a seaside resort, with beautiful beaches which attract several tourists, and the port of departure for cruises around the Mediterranean Sea. In town, there are many high schools and also a university campus.
Hi there! My name is Sara Basile and I'm sixteen. My birthday is on 10th November. I’ve lived in Savona, a nice town by the sea, since I was born. My family is composed by me, my mum, my dad and my brother Samuele, who is twelve. I practised artistic gymnastics for five years. I really loved it, but after a lot of years I decided to stop it. With me friend I often go to the town centre, where we go shopping or have something to drink. He’s fifteen years old , we resemble physically each other a lot but we’re totally different. During my free time I like doing different things. I’ve been practicing artistic gymnastics since I was six years old and now I still go to the gym four times a week. I’m an instructor too and I have a big group of children, so I spend a lot of time at my gym. I’m very interested in sports and I do follow football, athletics and many other disciplines. I like going out with my friends and I do it especially during the week-end, we hang around the town center, we sometimes go shopping or we simply sit in a cafè and have something to eat. In summer, a period of the year I do like, I usually go to the beach and spend a lot of time with my friends there. In fact I love the sea at any time of the year and I don’t know how it would be living without seeing it every morning. I’ve got other interests, for example I like reading especially novels and I often read books in English too because I’m very keen on this language. I like eating and listening to different kinds of music but I usually appreciate a lot rap and pop songs.
